چکیده

In a previous publication (1, Paper V of this series) the purification and properties of the inositol-cleaving enzyme were described. It was shown that a highly purified enzyme was obtained from rat kidneys which cleaved inositol to D-ghCUI’OniC acid. The purified enzyme was shown to possess SH groups and 1 gram atom of iron per mole of enzyme. Both the SH groups and the iron are necessary for catalytic action. This report concerns itself with further studies of the mechanism of action of this enzyme. Data are presented on the site of cleavage of inositol,l the origin of the oxygen atom which appears in the carboxyl group of glucuronic acid, and the interaction of the enzyme with a number of substances related to inosito1.

A review on the role of inositol in aquaculture

Inositol is usually classified as an essential vitamin for most animals, and is recognised as a part of the B-complex vitamins. Among all other inositol isomer forms, myo-inositol possesses biological activity. It is found in the brain, skeletal, heart, and main reproductive tissues and exists as a structural component of phosphatidylinositol in biological cell membranes. Myo-inositol, also act...

Myo-inositol at High Concentration Reduced Viability and Proliferation of Rat Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells via Electrolyte Imbalance and Elevation of Aerobic Metabolism

Myo-inositol (MI) which is produced at low concentration is an essential substance for animal’s natural growth. This study was performed to investigate the effects of MI on viability, proliferation and some biochemical factors of rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). To investigate the cell viability using trypan blue assay, BMSCs after third passage were treated with different concen...

Phosphoinositides. 2. The inositol 1-phosphate structure in liver phosphatidylinositol.

The hydrolysis studies reported in the preceding paper (Hawthorne, 1960) suggest that in liver phosphatidylinositol the phosphate group is linked to one of the cis-hydroxyl groups of the inositol, i.e. to positions 1(3)or 2-. Until recently, the inositol monophosphate isolated from phosphoinositides was believed to be optically inactive (Iselin, 1949; Hawthorne, 1955) and so liver phosphatidyli...

Molecular and biochemical characterization of three WD-repeat-domain-containing inositol polyphosphate 5-phosphatases in Arabidopsis thaliana.

Type II inositol polyphosphate 5-phosphatases (5PTases) in animals and yeast have been known to be important for regulating inositol and phospholipid signaling by hydrolyzing phosphate from both inositol polyphosphates and phosphoinositides. However, the molecular and biochemical properties of type II 5PTases in plants have not yet been studied. In this report, we show that three Arabidopsis ge...
